Henry and Elizabeth Nolop correspondence, 1852-1867.

Letters, 1852-1867 (bulk 1864-1865), consisting of correspondence principally between Henry Nolop, 4th Wisconsin Cavalry, Company A, and his wife, Elizabeth of Pine Creek, Wisconsin. The Civil War correspondence commences with Henry at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin. While in the army, Henry was stationed with the 16th Regiment at Camp Randall and then Baton Rouge. Their correspondence discusses family financial matters, the illness of their youngest child, the Regiment's lack of supplies, and Henry's stay at Jefferson Barracks Hospital after shooting himself in the foot. Pre Civil War correspondence includes letters written by Mary Gard and Fanny Greenham in England to relatives in America. Also included is an index to the letters with brief synopses of each letter compiled by the donors.
